Supply Chain Resilience: Taming the Wicked Problems - Dr. Jarrod Goentzel

Initiatives to increase resilience have proliferated since the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted global supply chains. As private and public organizations prepare for various supply chain disruptions, one aspect to consider is the nature of the scenarios that inform their planning. This talk challenges planners to move beyond the “tame problems” where they can develop internal solutions and consider the “wicked problems” that may not have clear solutions. Leveraging MIT Humanitarian Supply Chain Lab research sponsored by the federal government, participants will consider some very wicked disruption events to stretch their imagination for resilience planning.
