Abstract

Supply Chain Frontiers issue #10. Read all articles in this issue.

For the third year in a row US News & World Report ranks Massachusetts Institute of Technology first among graduate business programs in the area of logistics and supply chain management.   The ranking appears in the 2006 edition of the publication's annual report on America's best colleges.

The top ranking comes as no surprise to the Executive Director of MIT's Master of Engineering in Logistics (MLOG) Program Chris Caplice.  "We provide our students with an intensive program of challenging course work, extensive industry interaction, and cutting edge research," said Caplice.  "And they graduate with proficiency in both problem solving and change leadership--two components necessary for success in supply chain management."

And graduates from the MLOG program are finding success in supply chain management.  Joining the ranks of corporations such as Microsoft, Amazon.com, and McKinsey, 90% of the 2005 MLOG graduates accepted a job offer by graduation day and were offered a median salary of $ 97,000-- a 59% jump from their salary levels at the time of joining the program.

MLOG is a nine-month professional degree program at the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics.   The Center is part of MIT's Engineering Systems Division, which also received top honors from US News this year, with MIT ranked first among graduate engineering schools for the third year in a row.

The US News & World Report survey is a result of a comprehensive evaluation of US colleges and universities.  The magazine regularly asks deans and senior faculty of business schools to nominate up to ten of the best programs in several specialties.
