Supply Chain Frontiers issue #59
The Smart-Rail project in Europe has launched its website (www.smartrail-project.eu) and issued invites to stakeholders in rail freight services to participate in the project’s continuous improvement tracks.
The three-year innovation project entitled: “Smart Supply Chain Oriented Rail Freight Services” or Smart-Rail aims to make the European rail freight services more client-oriented and improve its performance. The focus will be on improvements in vehicle load services, maintaining reliability when unexpected disruptions occur, and the development of a control tower for shippers. Closer integration with other modes of transportation is a key theme of the initiative.
Stakeholders with diverse interests are participating in Smart-Rail, and the organizers are encouraging others to join by, for example, participating in expert sessions or sharing data. Organizations can register on the project web site.
