The Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC), Zaragoza, Spain, has announced a series of academic activities for this summer: its first PhD Summer Academy and two executive education courses.

The PhD Summer Academy 2008 is administered under the MIT-Zaragoza Program at ZLC. A panel of highly experienced professors and researchers from prestigious universities has been invited to teach the two-month program.

The aim is to provide a forum for discussion that will support and enhance ZLC’s ongoing research programs and stimulate new ideas in supply chain management, explained ZLC Director Santiago Kraiselburd. “The summer school for researchers brings together some of the best and brightest scholars in the area of logistics and supply chain management from around the world, who come here attracted by the research environment and the free exchange of ideas,” Kraiselburd said.

Simultaneously, ZLC is hosting two groups of executive students from its partner institution INCAE, ranked as the top business school in Latin America. The executives will take part in a nine-day intensive program of activities including company visits and case study-based lectures on supply chain management.

ZLC’s unique model of collaboration between government, industry, and academia has enabled it to become Europe’s top school in logistics and supply chain management. The new summer offerings reflect the Center’s continued growth and international outlook said Kraiselburd. ZLC has established a global network of faculty members and its students and alumni are from countries around the globe.

ZLC and the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics created the MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program (also referred to as MIT-Zaragoza Program) to develop world-class education and research in logistics and supply chain management. The program began in 2003 in collaboration with industry partners, and the PLAZA logistics park in Zaragoza, one of the largest logistics parks in the world.
