The MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics will begin 2006 with an executive education course that offers leading edge ideas and research combined with new networking opportunities. The "Leadership Supply Chain Management" course will run from January 4-6, 2006, in Cambridge, MA.

"We have modified the program to reflect the latest research being carried out at CTL and the feedback from previous attendees," said Jim Rice, Director, MIT Integrated Supply Chain Management Program.

The popular Beer Distribution Game, the exercise that tests attendees' operating systems skills, has been retained, as has the company case studies that take a detailed look at how two supply chains evolved to support the strategic goals of respective enterprises. Also on the menu is a session on innovative ways to manage and procure transportation services, and a session given by CTL Director Yossi Sheffi on how companies can gain competitive advantage from supply chain disruptions by becoming more resilient.

A new addition is Supply Chain Review, an optional segment at the end of the second day where participants can exchange ideas. "Past attendees have told us that the networking element of the program is particularly valuable," said Rice. Indeed, participants from previous courses have continued the dialogue they established during the program by setting up a web-based discussion group of their own. "We encourage attendees to learn from each other and the Review session will facilitate this process," Rice noted.
