Short description:
The Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU), which authorized U.S. federal transportation spending, expired in 2009. Since then, transportation spending has been continued through the use of a series of short-term extensions. Currently, reauthorization bills have been introduced in both the U.S. House and Senate, but with substantial differences. This presentation will provide an overview of current federal transportation programs, the reforms included in the bill and a prognosis on future legislation. The presentation will conclude with a question and answer session.
