The new report, The State of AI in Warehousing, published by MIT CTL and Mecalux, reveals a global turning point in warehouse digitalization. According to the study, 9 out of 10 organizations now deploy AI or machine learning to boost accuracy, speed, and operational control, achieving returns on investment in as little as 2-3 years. The findings show that AI is already reshaping day-to-day operations, from inventory optimization and automated picking to forecasting and predictive maintenance, while also transforming workforce models, job satisfaction, and training needs. Emerging capabilities like generative AI are further accelerating process design, documentation, and decision-making across the supply chain.
The report has generated significant global attention, with around 80 media outlets across Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa, and Australia covering the findings. Coverage ranges from leading general-interest newspapers to specialized logistics, manufacturing, and technology media, underscoring the relevance of AI-driven warehousing for both industry and the broader public.
