UPDATE June 16, 2011: We are pleased to announce our keynote speaker, Alberto Alemán Zubieta, CEO of the Panama Canal Authority. Mr Zubieta will be speaking on the topic of the future of the Panama Canal and its impact on supply chain.

Cambridge, MA., USA – June 6, 2011 – The Malaysia Institute for Supply Chain Innovation (MISI) will host its first global supply chain conference on July 19, 2011, in Shah Alam, Malaysia, near Kuala Lumpur. The Global Supply Chain SumMIT will bring together thought leaders from renowned universities and research centers to discuss the region's need for supply chain innovation to support surging economic activity. The SumMIT will also advance the mission of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) rapidly expanding international network of education and research centers known as the Global SCALE (Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence) Network and MISI by providing an exclusive forum for the exchange of ideas.

“This conference will be a catalyst for elevating the discourse surrounding global supply chain issues in the region, and will highlight challenges specific to Southeast Asia that will lead to innovative solutions”, said Dr. Mahender Singh, Executive Director of the MIT Global SCALE Network in Asia. “Topics will cover the latest thinking on sustainable supply chains, emerging market supply chains, training the future supply chain professional, enabling supply chains in Asia, and the growing prevalence of logistics clusters”.

MISI was created in March, 2011, to address the increasing demand for supply chain talent, knowledge, and thought leadership in the Southeast Asia region.
