C.H. Robinson CEO John Wiehoff will visit MIT to share some of the dynamics in the challenging transportation and logistics services marketplace, as well as some of the future challenges and opportunities in the industry.  This session will be conducted in an interview and then open discussion format which will provide an exciting engagement with this industry leader.

Background: Founded in 1905, C.H. Robinson is one of the world's largest third party logistics (3PL) providers, with 2012 gross revenues of $11.4 billion.  The company provides freight transportation and logistics, outsource solutions, produce sourcing, and information services to over 42,000 customers through a network of offices in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.  To meet their customers' freight needs, C.H. Robinson provides access to over 56,000 transportation providers worldwide, including contract motor carriers, railroads, air freight carriers, and ocean carriers.  With the service and dedication of more than 10,500 employees, a performance-driven culture, and a proven track record of success, C.H. Robinson has built a strong reputation as an industry leader.  The company began with produce and truckload services, they have recently evolved into an industry-leading 3PL with a comprehensive portfolio of sourcing, transportation, and logistics services. The ongoing challenges of the supply chain industry inspire us to innovate and search for new ideas that challenge limits and extend beyond brokerage.

Bio: John P. Wiehoff has been chief executive officer since May 2002, following a three-year succession process during which he was named president in December 1999. He has been a director of C.H. Robinson since December 2001. He was vice president and chief financial officer from June 1998 to December 1999. Previous positions with Robinson include treasurer and corporate controller. Prior to joining the company in 1992, he was employed by Arthur Andersen LLP. John also serves on the Board of Directors of Donaldson Company, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of filtration systems and replacement parts, and on the Board of Directors of Polaris Industries, which manufactures and markets snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, and Victory motorcycles. John holds a Bachelor of Science degree from St. John’s University.
