Social-driven supply chain network design: Bringing nutrition to underserved communities through AI

Join us for the second webinar of 2024 in the MITx MicroMasters Program in SCM!

Laura Allegue and Kellen Betts, the course leads for SC2x and SC4x, will be honored to host Dr. Christopher Mejia to discuss the importance of using prescriptive analytics (i.e., operations research and artificial intelligence) to analyze complex food supply chains. Join us to learn why food issues matter and how efficient supply chains can reduce them. We will discuss how data- and model-driven approaches can improve nutrition in underserved communities in India by formulating an optimization model to distribute plant-based protein, wheat, and rice in the country.

Dr. Christopher Mejia is a Research Scientist at the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics, director of the MIT SCALE network for Latin America and the Caribbean, director of the MIT Graduate Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and founder and director of the Food and Retail Operations Lab (FaROL). During this session, he'll share findings obtained together with his co-authors Ph.D. candidate Sanchita Das (former SCM’20) and Tatiana Sadalla Collese, PhD.

The event is free and open to all. Don't miss it and share it with your network!
