Research Affiliate

Dr. Juan Carlos Piña Pardo is a Research Affiliate at the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics (CTL) and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center of Excellence for Supply Chain Innovation & Transportation at KEDGE Business School in France. His research focuses on developing advanced mathematical optimization models to improve transportation and logistics systems, with a particular emphasis on urban last-mile logistics. Before joining KEDGE Business School, he was a Postdoctoral Associate at CTL, working on various industry-sponsored projects and conducting research at the MIT Megacity Logistics Lab and the MIT Supply Chain Design Lab.

Dr. Piña Pardo received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) in Chile. He was a visiting scholar at CTL during his Ph.D. studies, funded by the 2020 INFORMS Transportation Science and Logistics Society Cross-Regional Doctoral Grant. Dr. Piña Pardo also worked as a lecturer at the PUCV School of Industrial Engineering for seven years, teaching operations research and industrial engineering. He was awarded the 2020 PUCV Distinguished Teaching Award for outstanding student evaluations during this time.

As a Research Affiliate at CTL, Dr. Piña Pardo collaborates with the MIT Intelligent Logistics Systems Lab, integrating operations research and machine learning techniques to develop innovative research for complex transportation and logistics problems. He also serves as an academic advisor for the MIT Graduate Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
