Advancing Data-Driven Warehouse Operations

This session highlights the MIT Intelligent Logistics Systems Lab's ongoing research collaboration with Mecalux, focused on how advanced analytics, simulation, and emerging AI capabilities can improve warehouse operations and automation decisions. We will briefly introduce three active projects addressing internal material flow optimization, dynamic inventory positioning, and digital-twin-based design of high-density automated storage systems, and connect these efforts to broader industry trends. The session will also reflect on insights from a recently concluded industry survey on the state of ML & AI in warehouse operations.
