Abstract

Supply networks are becoming more extensive and complex, requiring companies to develop better ways to manage the risk of disruption. The MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics (MIT CTL) is developing a risk simulator based on a model originally built for a global manufacturer. The main goal is to create a tool for teaching managers how to reduce the likelihood of a disruption by comparing and quantitatively assessing simulated responses to crisis situations. Another possibility is to use the model to find better ways to make global networks more resilient.
