Abstract

Susana Val has been appointed the new Director of Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC).

She is also Principal Investigator for the Transport Research Group, Associate Research Professor at MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program, and Research Affiliate at the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics (MIT CTL).

Val obtained both PhD and MSc degrees in Industrial Engineering at the University of Zaragoza. She studied the Master of Engineering and Logistics degree at MIT CTL.

Her current research activities relate to the improvement of infrastructures, logistics corridors, best practices, transportation policies, and mobility in Spain, the EU and Latin America. As part of this work, she focuses on aspects such as carbon footprint, synchromodality, the creation and promotion of transportation networks, improving logistics parks as fundamental nodes in the development of supply chains, how ports connect with their hinterlands, and the creation of communications and operations support platforms among supply chain stakeholders. Urban Mobility is of special interest due to the mobility issues faced by cities and the need to develop sustainable solutions to these issues through collaboration.
