Abstract

Supply Chain Frontiers issue #52

A research project called LOGIPRO-CONTROL that started this January at the Zaragoza Logistics Center, Zaragoza, Spain, is building on the knowledge created by a previous project, CO2Logistic, to expand the functionality of a tool for calculating carbon footprints.

In addition to performing carbon footprint calculations, the enhanced tool will provide the logistics sector with an overview of the processes that enable enterprises to adopt optimization strategies and measures. The tool will also help end-users to make objective decisions about minimizing carbon emissions as well the associated costs. It will also be possible to carry out simulations based on activity data and process changes, to explore the outcomes of carbon reduction strategies.

The project is funded by the Government of Aragón and the Principal Researcher is Dr. Susana Val. The project is due to be completed at the end of 2014.
