Abstract

Supply Chain Frontiers issue #48

In January 2013, the MIT campus in Cambridge, MA, played host to 98 students from the four centers that make up the MIT Global SCALE (Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence) network, the highest number since the network’s inception.

Each January, students from SCALE supply chain management graduate programs meet on campus for an extensive program of classes, speakers, and site visits. There is also a poster session where the students present their thesis projects. This year, there were 68 poster presentations – the largest ever.

The breakdown is as follows.

Europe. The MIT Zaragoza International Logistics (ZLOG) program from the Zaragoza Logistics Center, Zaragoza, Spain (19 students).

Latin America. The Graduate Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (GCLOG) from the Center for Latin-American Logistics Innovation, Bogotá, Colombia (27 students).

North America. The Supply Chain Management (SCM) Masters Degree program from the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics, based in Cambridge, MA, US (36 students).

Southeast Asia. The MIT-Malaysia Supply Chain Management Masters Program (MSCM) from the MIT-Malaysia Institute for Supply Chain Innovation, Shah Alam, Malaysia (16 students).

The students have, on average, about six years’ experience working in various industries, including manufacturing, retail, and transportation. While they may have different backgrounds, each individual receives a world-class education in supply chain management.
