Abstract

Supply Chain Frontiers issue #41

The Malaysia Institute for Supply Chain Innovation (MISI) will host its first global supply chain conference on July 19, 2011,in Shah Alam, Malaysia, near Kuala Lumpur. The Global Supply Chain SumMIT will bring together thought leaders from renowned research centers to discuss the region’s need for supply chain capabilities to support surging economic activity. The SumMIT also will advance the mission of Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) expanding international network of education and research centers known as the Global SCALE (Supply Chain and Logistics Excellence) Network and MISI by providing an exclusive forum for the exchange of ideas.

The first-of-its-kind event will feature the following speakers:

  • Janice H. Hammond, Jesse Philips Professor of Manufacturing, Harvard Business School, USA.
  • Yossi Sheffi, Elisha Gray II Professor of Engineering Systems and Director, Center for Transportation & Logistics, MIT, USA.
  • Jan C. Fransoo,Professor of Operations Management & Logistics, School of Industrial Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands; Visiting Professor, Center for Transportation & Logistics, Engineering Systems Division, MIT, USA.
  • Hugo Yoshizaki, Professor of Supply Chain Management, University of São Paulo, Brazil.
  • Richard Pibernik,Professor of Supply Chain Management and Executive Research Director of the Supply Chain Management Institute (SMI), European Business School, Germany.

MISI was created in March 2011 to address the lack of supply chain talent, knowledge, and thought leadership in the Southeast Asia region. As a member of the Global SCALE Network, MISI will draw on the network’s collective expertise to develop supply chain solutions geared to the needs of businesses in Southeast Asia.
