Supply Chain Frontiers issue #41

Dr. David Gonsalvez, Professor of the Practice in Supply Chain Management at the MIT-Zaragoza Program, Zaragoza, Spain, has been appointed as the new director of the Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC).

Prior to joining ZLC, Gonsalvez was Director, Global Supply Chain, at General Motors (GM), where he was responsible for worldwide supply chain strategy, planning, and security. He led the development of supply chain strategies for emerging markets at GM, and coordinated the rapid growth of GM’s global supply chains. In addition, Gonsalvez led the operations research and analysis team supporting GM’s Global Purchasing and Supply Chain operations. In this role, he was responsible for identifying substantial improvements and savings in current operations, while also developing future cross-functional strategies and innovations.

In his more than 20-year career with GM, Gonsalvez worked in the company’s R&D Center, Product Planning, Sales and Marketing, and Supply Chain functions, as well as on special strategic initiatives. His international experience includes assignments for General Motors in Germany, Switzerland, and Thailand.

Gonsalvez holds a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the Ohio State University.
