Abstract

Supply Chain Frontiers issue #36.

Attendees at the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics’ (MIT CTL) Summer 2010 executive education program will play CHAOS (Supply Chain Operations Simulation), the new inventory management simulation game from MIT CTL.

Based on a real-world supply chain, CHAOS simulates operational disruptions. Teams compete to develop the most cost-effective mitigation strategies. “By being able to input different operations strategies and mitigation plans, managers can see the effects in real time and learn how to allocate resources to minimize the disruption and quickly restore network flow,” explains Dr. Amanda Schmitt, the MIT CTL Postdoctoral Associate who built the game.

This year’s summer executive education course, Supply Chain Management: Driving Strategic Advantage takes place on June 8-11, 2010, in Cambridge MA
