Matching supply and demand is a major challenge for companies, so the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics has launched three important initiatives to help enterprises solve some of their most pressing demand management (DM) problems.

An executive roundtable entitled Managing Supply and Demand in Real Time will take place on August 17-18, 2006, in Chicago, moderated by CTL Research Director Larry Lapide. A group of leading solutions providers will discuss DM issues. The event will also launch a second initiative: a major CTL research project that will explore new ways to synchronize supply and demand in increasingly volatile markets. “We are very excited about the project, which we believe will break new ground in an area that is of crucial importance to sustaining company profitability,” said Lapide.

The third initiative is a symposium hosted by CTL on September 12-13, 2006, that will bring together industry experts to look at underlying DM problems. The full line-up for the event will be announced soon.
