Supply Chain Frontiers Issue #24. Read all articles in this issue

Thought leaders from Intel, JohnsonDiversey, MIT and Nokia will map the development of supply chains over the next decade at the Crossroads 2008: The Next Ten Years conference, March 27, 2008, in Cambridge, MA.

The annual Crossroads conference is MIT-CTL’s premier event, focusing on the connection between supply chain management and corporate
strategy. This year the conference will view the evolution of supply chains through five lenses:

•    Education and Professional Development
•    Energy & Environment
•    Globalization & Emerging Markets
•    Information Technology
•    Scenario Planning: New Ways to Envision the Future

Jim Kellso, Supply Chain Master at Intel, will talk about an innovative program to establish a new type of career path for supply chain professionals. Antonio Galvao, VP of Global Planning for JohnsonDiversey, will describe the importance of environmental sustainability at his company, and how the value chain is integrated into its green programs. Nokia has pioneered business development in emerging countries, and J Putkiranta, the company’s Senior Vice President Supply Chain, will consider how these markets and globalization trends are likely to impact supply chains. The symposium will conclude with a session from Mahender Singh, head of MIT-CTL’s SC2020 research initiative, who will tie together the various themes in a talk about scenario planning and the value of modeling the future.

“At a time of economic uncertainty the Crossroads conference gives executives the opportunity to look beyond current market conditions, and consider the developments that will shape supply chains as well as the future of their businesses,” said Jim Rice, MIT-CTL’s Deputy Director.
