"How President Obama's Livability Policies Will Harm American Cities"

Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood is promoting Obama's "livability" program,
which includes an emphasis on transit, pedestrian-friendly design, and high-density, mixed-use
land-use policies. Yet far from making American cities more livable, these policies will increase
housing prices, traffic congestion, and local tax burdens while doing little or nothing to reduce
the environmental impacts of transportation.
