Dr. Thorsten Greil is a Postdoctoral Associate at the MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics, active in the Supply Chain Design and the Intelligent Logistics Systems Labs. He uses stochastic optimization and AI methods to address real-world supply chain and logistics challenges. He earned his PhD at Technical University of Munich in Germany, titled “Data-Driven Optimization, Generative AI-Enabled Decision Support, and Environmental Impact”. During his PhD, he worked closely together with a global enterprise resource planning software provider, and developed a probabilistic planning approach and dashboard interface for a pilot customer, using their actual supply chain data. Thorsten received a M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering and Management from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany, and has worked in Strategy consulting for more than three years before starting his PhD.
