MIT CTL’s Bryan Reimer Named to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Rulemaking Committee

Dr. Bryan Reimer, a research scientist at the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics (MIT CTL), and the Founder and Co-leader of the Advanced Vehicle Technology (AVT) Consortium and the Human Factors Evaluator for Automotive Demand (AHEAD) Consortium in the MIT AgeLab, has been appointed to the Task Force on Human Factors in Aviation Safety Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) (“HF Task Force ARC”). The HF Task Force ARC will provide recommendations to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the most significant human factors and the relative contribution of these factors to aviation safety risk.

MIT Humanitarian Supply Chain Lab’s Fuel Supply Roundtable Aims to Improve U.S. Disaster Response Through Creation of a Playbook

On December 11 and 12, 2024, public and private sector stakeholders from the U.S. South and Midwest gathered with the MIT Humanitarian Supply Chain Lab to discuss the challenges of responding to fuel supply chain disruptions during natural disasters. The Fuel Supply Chain Roundtable reflected on lessons learned from Hurricanes Helene and Milton and framed concepts that could be developed into a “Fuel Response Playbook” for future disasters. The event closed with the group considering one such possible disaster, a major earthquake in the New Madrid seismic zone in the Midwest, which the MIT lab is currently studying.
