Abstract

The supply chain for oilseeds is permeated with uncertainty. This work is based on a company that is expanding its business into Mato Grosso, a region where on top of all regular uncertainties, rapid growth and a number of developments may alter the landscape for business significantly. The company is potentially going to operate a grain elevator and a crushing facility that converts grain into oil and meal in this region. This work develops a framework for the company to make decisions on capacity planning and budgeting, through a series of scenario building and sensitivity analysis. More importantly, the tool developed allows for the company management to build new scenarios and change parameters every time they think it is necessary.
