Abstract

Supply Chain Frontiers issue #55

The Malaysia Institute of Supply Chain Innovation (MISI) in Shah Alam, Malaysia, is working closely with InvestKL to promote Malaysia as a global supply chain hub, and to persuade leading multi-national companies to locate their supply chain operations in the country.

InvestKL is an agency created by the Government of Malaysia with the express purpose of attracting major companies to Greater Kuala Lumpur. The city is investing hugely in its infrastructure and business ecosystem.

“With industry and practice at the core of its activities, MISI will help companies in a variety of ways. Specifically, development of world-class talent in the region, we will equip companies to deliver higher-level performance in its business operations,” said MISI CEO Dr. Mahender Singh in a recent interview about the initiative, published by the Star newspaper in Malaysia.

The ASEAN region generates $1.7 trillion worth of trade annually, and this is likely to increase significantly if Southeast Asian countries maintain projected growth rates of 5% to 6% over the next few years. An efficient supply chain is at the core of this anticipated transformation, and MISI is playing a key role in ensuring that the region has the supply chain talent and expertise it needs to fulfill its economic potential.
