The partner firm had recently expanded into a new market and was interested in reevaluating their current supply chain strategy to determine whether it needed to be revised in order to maintain their leadership position. Having received a new business strategy from the top management level, the supply chain team was faced with the challenging task of adjusting their functional activities to best serve the needs of the business.

How did CTL address the problem?

The SC2020 Strategy Process team mapped the company’s current supply chain strategy in concrete terms through the use of various tools and techniques, such as a strategy map. We prepared a strategy map by using qualitative data distilled from over 40 interviews with practitioners in the firm. The strategy map was the basis for further review and analysis to evaluate the company’s current supply chain strategy for coverage and alignment. As a result of this detailed process, we identified key areas for improvement.

What were the results and specific impact on the company?

Application of the SC2020 Strategy Process allowed the partner firm to gain a clearly articulated description of their supply chain strategy, which could be used as a basis for discussion and further improvement. They also received a grounded confirmation of the nature of some pressing issues facing the supply chain team, which needed to be addressed in order to sustain a competitive advantage in the industry.
