MIT Port Resilience Project

The MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics is a funded partner in the "The National Center for Secure and Resilient Maritime Commerce (CSR)" and in response CTL has initiated The MIT Port Resilience Project which will focus on developing resilient and secure ports.  CSR is a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Center of Excellence (The Center for Maritime, Island and Port Security) that was launched in July 2008 with Stevens Institute of Technology as the lead institution.

Reference letters:  DHS and CSR, CSR and MIT

The MIT Port Resilience Project will build off of CTL's recent research on Supply Chain Resilience, Supply Chain Risk Management and Supply Chain Security (see Port Resilience - Reports and Publications for relevant CTL references).  MIT's role in the new Center of Excellence will be to develop principles and actions for making ports resilient to disruptions.

See Port Resilience - Research for an overview of the research efforts.

See Port Resilience - Reports and Publications for relevant CTL papers on resilience, security and risk management.

See Port Resilience - Videos for relevant videos on port resilience.

MIT Port Resilience Survey

The research team is conducting a  Port Resilience Survey to collect input from port authorities, terminal operators, carriers, shippers, freight forwarders and others involved in port operations and coordination on port resilience.  We need your input - please take our 10 minute survey!
