Dr. Arntzen is a Senior Research Director at MIT’s Center for Transportation and Logistics.  He is heading up MIT’s effort to establish a new center for supply chain excellence in Mexico.  In addition, Dr. Arntzen is leading an international research project on supply chain risk management across multinational supply chains.  He has taught classes, lead change teams, and advised clients on supply chain management for over 20 years.  He has lectured in undergraduate and executive education programs at Northeastern University, MIT, Penn State, WPI, University of North Florida, and the University of Wisconsin.  He has published key articles in Operations Research, Interfaces, CSCMP Proceedings, and Supply Chain Management Review.  He has lead CEO-sponsored supply chain transformations in a wide variety of industries:  Chemicals, Electronics, Industrial Equipment, Retail, and Consumer Goods Products.  His clients include 3M, ExxonMobil, HP, Dell, Cisco, Pratt & Whitney, Siemens, Huntsman Chemical, Clark Shoe, and the Hard Rock Café.

Recent assignments have included conducting a major siting analysis for Logistics Parks in North America, converting manufacturing and planning processes to Build to Order (BTO), implementing a Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, optimizing  a global logistics network, and re-engineered an NPI (New Product Introduction) Process.

Dr. Arntzen founded a supply chain consulting firm, Avicon Partners, LLC., lead industrial engineering groups at Digital Equipment Corp., performed operations management consulting at Arthur D. Little, Inc., and served as an economic analyst at The World Bank in Washington, DC.  He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences including CSCMP, WERC, and INFORMS.  He is currently serving as the President of the New England Chapter of CSCMP.

Dr. Arntzen holds a PhD from MIT, an M.S.E from Johns Hopkins, and a B.S. and B.A. from Bucknell University.
