New Perspectives on Managing Risk through the Supply Network
A CTL Partner-Only Event December 2, 2008 Sonesta Hotel Cambridge, MA
Risk management is no longer a back office operation - it is front-and-center on the slate of issues that preoccupy CEOs and other business leaders. Failure to address a company’s vulnerability to disruptions can result in catastrophic losses and a collapse in customer and supplier confidence. In addition, a firm’s financial performance is linked to its ability to mitigate risk. Firms therefore need to directly identify and confront their enterprise, financial, and operational risks, and then develop an integrated method for managing these risks across the business. Few, if any, companies currently have such methods in place.
This symposium will bring together researchers currently working on understanding and modeling supply network risk, and practitioners who are pioneering risk management within their respective businesses. CTL researchers are developing risk models for global supply networks, as well as identifying leading-edge risk management practices in emerging markets such as India. This rich set of data will provide insights into new ways to manage risk, and together with examples from practitioners, this symposium will promote a new understanding the risk management of supply networks.
