Postdoctoral Associate, AgeLab

Ben D. Sawyer holds a Ph.D. in Human Factors Psychology and an M.S. in Industrial Engineering. Dr. Sawyer's present research interests address the intersection of attention and trust in human-autonomy teaming. His work spans diverse contexts, including consumer electronics, freight & farm, cybersecurity, dismounted battlefield, and human-robotic interaction.  His research has been covered by Forbes, Reuters, Fast Company, and The BBC, among others. 

Before coming to MIT, Dr. Sawyer was a two-time Repperger Scholar with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), where he worked with the 711th Human Performance Wing in both their Applied Neuroscience and Battlefield Acoustics BATMAN divisions. Among other recognition, he has received the Human Factors Prize, the K.U. Smith Award, and the Intelligence Community Academic Excellence Scholarship. In 2018, Dr. Sawyer was PI on a USAF YIP Grant focused upon modeling trust within human-automation teaming in cybersecurity.
